Ashcroft Founded in 1852 in Massachusetts, USA

In response to the growing need for more reliable ways to measure and control pressure, inventor Edward Ashcroft of Lynn, Massachusetts began to conceive new component designs to improve the safety of systems. While showing his wares at a London exhibit in 1851, Ashcroft met French inventor Eugene Bourdon who was demonstrating his invention for a pressure gauge actuated by a metallic curved tube designed to consistently deflect under pressure. Edward Ashcroft was so impressed with the gauge design that within a year, he acquired the patent rights to produce the French "Bourdon tube" gauge in the U.S., and by 1852 had founded the Ashcroft Manufacturing Company. In America, this technologically superior pressure indicator would become known simply as the "Ashcroft Gauge". An advanced version of this basic design is still produced by Ashcroft today, as well as by nearly every other pressure gauge manufacturer.

What Ashcroft Manufactures Today:

Ashcroft manufactures pressure transducers / transmitters, temperature and pressure switches, thermometers, test equipment for measuring pressure & temperature, and a complete line of pressure gauges. Ashcroft products are manufactured in ISO 9001 certified facilities.

Ashcroft pressure transducers and transmitters cover four types of pressure measurement: gauge, sealed gauge, absolute and compound ranges. From low-to-high pressure, Ashcroft's transducer technology has the capability to measure ranges from 0.05 inches H2O to 150,000 psi with accuracies of 0.02%, 0.25%, 0.50%, and 1%.

Ashcroft pressure and temperature switches are used in numerous applications for control, alarm, and shutdown.

Ashcroft products can be found in many different industry segments: wastewater treatment facilities, biotech and pharmaceutical labs, medical applications, semiconductor facilities, refineries, power generation plants, food processing plants, pulp and paper mills, chemical manufacturing plants, and the host of support companies that serve these industries.

As a leader in technology and innovation, Ashcroft designs new products based on current and emerging market requirements as well as individual customer requirements.
